30 year old whisky

A 30 year old whisky contains no whisky younger than 30 years in the bottle: for Scotch, the age statement is the youngest component. This page compares the 30-year-olds at the UK retailers we check, from official single malts such as Talisker 30 Year Old and BenRiach 30 Year Old to independent bottlings and blends.

Older is not automatically better; the distillery and the cask matter as much as the years. For what the years in cask do, see Whiskipedia on whisky maturation. Prices are the best current in-stock offer from the UK retailers we check (how we compare prices).

How much does 30 year old whisky cost?
30 year old whisky costs from £187.50 to £4,500.00, with a median of £749.95 for a full-size bottle. The dearest is Hibiki 30 Year Old.
What does 30 year old mean on a whisky label?
For Scotch, it means the youngest whisky in the bottle spent at least 30 years in cask. Older whisky may be in the mix, but the age refers to the youngest component: under the Scotch Whisky Regulations 2009, a label may state only that age.
Why is 30 year old whisky so expensive?
Mostly time. A cask loses spirit to evaporation every year it sits in the warehouse, so after three decades there is far less left to bottle, and the cask and its space have been tied up for 30 years. A 30-year-old bottled in 2026 was distilled in 1996 or earlier, so only casks laid down then can supply it. See Whiskipedia on whisky maturation.
