Another single malt whiskey from the “Classic Malts” series. The Oban 14 Years impresses with its slightly maritime character and fruitiness. The Whiskey Oban is a special single malt Scotch whiskey that combines the rich, complex flavors of the Highlands with the maritime and peaty nuances of the island whiskeys. The taste of autumn fruits and salty sea air is ideal balanced and could develop extensively during the ripening period of fourteen. The excellent combination of slightly sweet, smoky dryness and subtle spice, owes a special distillation and maturation process. The little lantern-shaped copper vessel in which distillation takes place, among the smallest stills in Scotland. In addition, the condensation of the malt takes place in wooden cooling water baths on the roof of the distillery. During the slow process, not just the wooden container of sea air exposed, but also the malt itself. Thus, the whiskey acquires its characteristic maritime touch that complements the caramel flavor. For maturation, it is first filled in Bourbon barrels and then aged according to Montilla Fino sherry barrels. Which is thus a balanced and high-quality combination of intense sweetness, smoky dryness and slight saltiness. Added to this is a fruity aroma of oranges, pears and dried figs. At the World Spirits Competition in San Francisco, the whiskey was awarded the gold medal in 2016 and was even included in the list of the twelve “Classic Malts”. The perfect accompaniment to seafood, parmesan cheese, salty caramel, fruit salad or green olives, is best served yet with a sip of cold water. More information about the product.
