Jim Murray’s Whiskey Bible 2010 The Old Pulteney 12 YO is produced in the Scottish Northern Highlands, in Pulteney. It is based on malted barley. This is baked to sweeten the strength. The mixture is fermented with yeast, then maturity begins. The Old Pulteney 12 YO matures, as the name suggests, twelve years, in air-dried, hand selected Bourbon casks. Already in the nose of single malt has an intense, grassy, with a hint of salty sea air. On the palate it is dry and smooth, with a slight salt and sherry. Weak salty It remains in finish that dry and clear comes also. You can use the Old Pulteney for mixed drinks, but really he’s sure too bad. The best way to enjoy it on its own or as an alternative with some ice.
