Laphroaig whisky

Laphroaig is an Islay single malt made on the island’s south coast, with heavily peated whisky as its house style. Compare current offers on Quarter Cask, 10 Year Old Sherry Oak Finish and Lore, alongside older official and independent bottlings.

Peat tags here are derived from the producer rather than stated on each label. Some of Laphroaig’s own floor-malted barley is peated to around 45–50 ppm, but that figure does not describe every bottle. Older releases can vary considerably in price between shops, so match the age, edition, size and strength before comparing.

Questions

What is the cheapest Laphroaig whisky?
The cheapest Laphroaig whisky is Laphroaig Select (40% ABV, 70cl), at £28.50 from Master of Malt. That is £33.45 delivered to the UK mainland for one bottle. Next cheapest: Laphroaig Islay Single Malt Scotch 10 year old Whisky (£36.00) and Laphroaig Quarter Casks Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky (£43.50).
How much does Laphroaig whisky cost?
Laphroaig whisky costs from £28.50 to £3,499.95, with a median of £299.95 for a full-size bottle. The dearest is Laphroaig The Ian Hunter Story - Book 1: Unique Character Si 30 year old Whisky.
What is the oldest Laphroaig whisky you can buy?
What is Laphroaig Quarter Cask?
Laphroaig Quarter Cask is matured in ex-bourbon barrels and then finished in quarter casks of about 125 litres, whose higher ratio of wood to spirit speeds up the cask’s influence. It is bottled at 48% ABV without chill filtration, and is one of the distillery’s best-known core releases.
Is Laphroaig peated?
Yes. Peat is Laphroaig’s house style. About a fifth of its malt is still made on its own floor maltings, at a commonly cited 45 to 50 ppm, and the rest is bought in. A cask finish can change the flavour without changing the peated spirit.
What is the difference between Laphroaig 10 and Quarter Cask?
Laphroaig says Quarter Cask is matured in ex-bourbon barrels before a finish in smaller quarter casks. The standard 10 Year Old carries an age statement, meaning the youngest whisky in it is 10 years old; Quarter Cask has no age statement. Both sit within Laphroaig’s usually peated house style, but their cask and age details differ.
