Questions

What is the cheapest Rosebank whisky?
The cheapest Rosebank whisky is Rosebank (silent) Release #3 Single Malt Scotch 1990 32 year old Whisky (32 years old, 47.6% ABV, 70cl), at £1,730.50 from Master of Malt. That is £1,730.50 delivered to the UK mainland for one bottle. Next cheapest: Rosebank 31 Year Old (£1,750.00) and Rosebank (silent) Release #1 Single Malt Scotch 1990 30 year old Whisky (£3,499.95).
What happened to Rosebank?
Rosebank in Falkirk was mothballed by United Distillers in 1993, and its stills were stolen from the empty site in 2008-09. Ian Macleod Distillers bought the site and the brand in 2017, rebuilt it with triple distillation and worm tubs, and filled its first new cask in July 2023.
Can a closed distillery reopen?
Yes. Port Ellen on Islay, closed in 1983, reopened as a new distillery in 2024, and Rosebank, mothballed in 1993, filled its first new cask in 2023 and opened to visitors in 2024. A revived distillery may share little with the old one beyond the site and name, so its new spirit won’t simply replace the old stock.
