English whisky: what's in stock, UK prices

English whisky from Cotswolds, The Lakes, White Peak and more that UK retailers have in stock, with the lowest current price and delivery for each bottle.

English whisky on sale at the UK retailers we check includes blends such as The One Fine Blended Whisky (£37.80 at Tyndrum Whisky) and single malts from Cotswolds, White Peak, Filey Bay and The Lakes. Stock is often distributed across specialist retailers, so availability varies.

This guide links to retailers. Some links may earn us a commission; picks are based on the price data and the criteria below.

How we chose

These are bottles tagged as English in our catalogue and in stock when we last collected prices, not a verdict on the best English whisky. We have not tasted them for this guide. We list label facts, the producer and the live price, and where only one retailer sells a bottle we say so, because then there is nothing to compare.

The producers behind the bottles

The One is a blended whisky. The single malts come from Cotswolds, founded in 2014; from White Peak, whose range is sold under the Wire Works name; from The Lakes, which makes the Signature and Whiskymaker’s releases; and from the Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery, which bottles Filey Bay. The English Distillery in Norfolk is tracked in our catalogue but had no priced bottle when we last checked. For the wider list of new-wave distilleries, see Whiskipedia’s craft whisky guide.

The grid updates with the catalogue; the full set is on the England country page, and English bottles also appear in the world whisky list.

Yes. Since 1 October 2026, “English Whisky” and “English Whiskey” have been protected geographical indications in Great Britain under Defra rules. The specification requires the spirit to be mashed, fermented, distilled and matured in England from UK cereals, aged for at least three years in wooden casks of 700 litres or less, and bottled at 40% ABV or more. The Scotch Whisky Association lodged an appeal on 8 October 2026 over the English single malt definition. Read our full guide to whisky legal definitions.

Why so few shops stock it

English whisky is a young category; Cotswolds, one of the longer-established names, was founded in 2014. Most distilleries release in small batches, so few bottles reach more than one or two of the retailers we check. Where you buy matters less than whether anyone has stock at all. When two shops do list the same bottle, compare the delivered price, because a single bottle usually pays a delivery charge.

Retailers and check date

We compared in-stock offers from Abbey Whisky, DrinkSupermarket.com, Hard To Find Whisky, Loch Fyne Whiskies, Milroy’s of Soho, The Whisky Shop, Tyndrum Whisky and Whisky Me in our October 2026 catalogue checks. Loch Fyne Whiskies and The Whisky Shop count as one owner. Prices and stock change; the live table on each bottle page is current, and the retailer’s checkout price is the one that counts. Questions

What whisky is made in England?
Single malts and blends from distilleries including Cotswolds, The Lakes, White Peak, the Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery (Filey Bay) and The English Distillery in Norfolk. It is a young category: Cotswolds, one of the longer-established English distilleries, was founded in 2014. Whiskipedia’s craft whisky guide covers the new-wave distilleries.
Does English whisky have legal rules like Scotch?
Yes. Since 1 October 2026, English Whisky has been protected as a UK geographical indication approved by Defra. Spirit must be mashed, fermented, distilled and matured in England from UK cereals and English water, aged for at least three years in wooden casks of 700 litres or less, and bottled at 40% ABV minimum. See our whisky legal definitions guide.
Why is English whisky often dearer than Scotch?
It is a young, small-scale category. Most English distilleries were founded in the last two decades and bottle in small batches, so they lack the economies of scale of the large Scottish distilleries, and their maturing stock is still building. The price reflects production scale and demand, not a legal difference between the categories.
