For the new bottling Deanston Virgin Oak Cask Finish some barrels were married with a young whiskey and superfinished in distilled American oak barrels. The whiskey is undyed and not filtered cool. Deanston is not far from the little town Doune and just north of the ominous line that separates the lowlands of the Highlands on River Teith. Many distilleries have arisen from illegal stills on farms, others from breweries and Malzmühlen, but only Deanston is a former cotton mill. The distillery Deanston was – as one of the younger distilleries in Scotland – founded in 1965-66 by the Deanston Distillery Co Ltd. Their owners were Brodie Hepburn Ltd and James Finlay & Co. The fact that the distillery is located in a converted cotton mill, it does not look like a distillery. Deanston Virgin Oak is a 70 year old single malt whisky from the Deanston whisky distillery (located in the Highland region). Rated an average of 3.9 out of 5 by 100 reviewers and available from The Drink Super Market for only £32.99, with reviews like that this is one single malt whisky you can’t afford to miss
