The Catoctin Rye Whiskey comes from the same distillery. This distillery was founded in 2009 by the couple Becky and Scott Harris in Purceville, Virgina in the so-called Loudon Valley and is therefore still relatively young. The Catoctin Creek Distillery was since the end of Prohibition in 1933, the first new distillery in Loudon County. The name “Catoctin” is derived from the Indian tribal name “Kittocton”, and Ka-TOCK-tin is pronounced, meaning “place of many deer”. For their spirits, the founder pair used to use only the best raw materials. All the ingredients for the Catoctin Rye Whsiky should as far as possible are locally grown. The Catoctin Creek Roundstone Rye Whiskey is the flagship of the distillery. As a real Rye Whiskey it is of course 100% rye produced. After distillation, It stored in barrels of American white oak which come from Minnesota. The strong spicy rye whiskey is on the nose delicate aromas of caramel, toffee, oak and a hint of citrus. The Roundstone Rye is perfect as a sipping whiskey or as an ingredient for high-quality cocktails such as the Manhattan.
