The Glendronach 12 Years Original is a fruity-spicy Single Speyside Malt with a complex character. It provides both fruity flavors such as orange, grass, grape and sherry and spicy notes such as peat, grass and tobacco. 92/100 pts. Jim Murray’s Whiskey Bible 2010 The Glendronach is manufactured in the same distillery in Scotland’s Speyside region. The distillery was founded in 1826 is one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland, and the Glendronach is one of its most traditional brands. In between, the distillery was closed in 2008 but reopened. Today, it has six stills. Basis of single malts are malt barley and pure water. In addition, open coal fire used to heat the stills. Unusual is also the storage. The Glendronach rests twelve years in sherry casks and then a few months in American white oak barrels. It’s worth it. The Glendronach sprayed a smoky and at the same fruity aroma, with hints of orange, grass and fresh cream. The taste, however ripe barley, peat and sweet grapes dominate. A total of creamy, soft single malt with a spicy, mild, medium long finish.
